Creation of LEELA Art and Jewellery
It all began with the start of our long-awaited trip to Asia. My then partner Sarah and I saved all our money for two years to treat ourselves to this time off. The trip was to last seven months and two weeks and take us through the cities of India, the islands of Thailand, the mountainous landscapes of Myanmar and finally through the rainforest of Malaysia before we returned home to see our loved ones again.
Asian craftsmanship
We experienced a lot during our numerous stops and immersed ourselves deeply in the local culture. In addition to delicious food, unusual customs and interesting people, we were particularly impressed by the local handicrafts such as wood carving, weaving, silversmithing and pottery. The beautiful pieces of jewelry in India and Thailand in particular left a lasting impression.
Visions emerge
This is how the idea came about to buy lots of beautiful things locally and send them home in a large package. With these treasures, we opened our own online shop and became self-employed step by step.
A dream comes true
A few years have passed since then (2019) and this decision has fundamentally changed my life. For the first time, I love the work I do. The online shop makes me freer and happier than ever before.
